Another Deatherage Baby... Oh my!

This is how the story of Scout goes.
Brian picked up Colton from pre-school on December 22 and Miss Steph asked us if we were getting a puppy from Santa Clause.  Brian said I am not sure why?  She continued on "Well Colton asked Santa for a puppy and a candy cane, he has been telling everyone he is getting a golden retriever named Scout from Santa Claus"  Hmm.  So we had a talk with Colton and told him it was hard for Santa to make puppies.  He was good at making toys.  Brian told him we could go look at some puppies though.  Our friends from Middleton had 10 Golden retriever puppies so on Christmas Eve we drove out and looked at them.  Brian and Colton both found one they loved.  The biggest puppy of the litter and a little boy.  We left him there.  I thought that would be fine and was perfect.  A week later I got a call from my friend.  So do you guys want that puppy.  I have been leaving him out when people come look in case you want him.  Everyone in the Deatherage family was all in except for me.  Honestly... I am just getting to sleep at night again.  Is everyone in my family crazy?  Puppies are like a new baby.  We are done.
One more week pasted and we were having everyone over for a football game.  The Ramseys said they would bring the puppy by to play while we all hang out.  Okay I said.  Brian and I agreed that if they were bringing him over we would try it out and keep him for a week... if it was too much for me then we would just give the puppy back.  My first call was to my dear friend Anna.  "Can I borrow a kennel?"  is how it started out.  I told her the plan and that we would just need it for a week and then we would give the puppy back.  "Uh huh.." she said "give the puppy back, sure Joy, I have one you can borrow"  Well needless to say...we borrowed her kennel for longer than a week. She knew better and didn't have the heart to break it to me.
I had to buck up because my little boy fell in LOVE so fast with his golden retriever puppy Scout.  He is the best helper and doesn't leave Scouts side.  He even napped outside on the dog bed with Scout.  Then there was the big boy I am married too... who knew he needed a puppy too.  Scout has been the most mellow puppy I have met.  He was a perfect fit.  On a side note:  I was telling a patient of mine the Story of scout and she asked me.  Did your husband make that up so he could get a dog?  It sure did make me wonder.  Either way, Scout is part of the family now.

Look Mom! No training wheels!

I came home from work to a BIG surprise!  Colton was riding his two-wheeler with no training wheels.  It was so amazing to watch him wobbling up and down the path.  It was a little like watching him take his first steps.  His look on his face was so proud and so excited for his new found freedom.. (just like my little 15 or 18 month old walker... I don't remember exactly but I recognized his look on his face).  He only had about five wobbly rides and then they were all pretty smooth after that.  They learn so fast.  I am so lucky I got home in time to see the wobbly ones and of course cry a few proud tears.  As soon as the tears come and Brian discovers them he laughs and tells Colton.. "Way to work your mom over big guy"  And then sweet Colton always checks on his mommy "Those are happy tears right mom?"  "You bet buddy!  Mom is so proud of you!"  I think Jace isn't too far behind.  Where did my toddlers go?

Discovery Center of Idaho

In looking for some indoor fun.. we discovered the Discovery Center of Idaho.  Since Brian is a Science nerd I thought I better foster that curiosity in case my kiddos want to become science nerds like Daddy.  On Fridays they have a story time with a craft. Perfect.  The kids loved the hands on part.  Anytime I tried to teach them something they were totally bored and moved on.  Oh well.  Stay tuned to see if we have any science nerds in the making.

Jillian loved the store.  Colton and Jace did the checking out.  Mommy got to be the person that re-stocks the shelves.  It was hard to keep up with my little shopper.

Jace loved the bed of nails. Naturally right?

Game Night!

Over the break Grandpa, Alex and Fal drove down to hang out with us.  They got to try out all our new games with us.  The Dr. Seuss game was a hit and Aunt Fallon got some great pictures of Uncle Alex that she posted to face book right away... like any good sister would.  Then we tried our luck with Starwars Operation.  Alex was the best surgeon and whooped us.  Then is was time for a little Mani-Pedi session with Jillian's new fingernail polish.  Jillian is very complete and doesn't miss one little bit of finger nail!  Thanks for a good visit!

Christmas.

Christmas morning really is magical.  I am not as good at taking pictures because I just love sitting and watching and taking everything in.  Santa sure spoiled us this year.  Jillian has enough princess wear to be a new one everyday.  Colton has plenty of hot wheel magic and Jace has some marble magic.  Mommy got her favorite jeans and Daddy got a patriots Jersey.  We are so blessed with a healthy happy family.  We are lucky to be rich in all the right ways.

Christmas Eve... Patriots style.

Daddy was in charge of Christmas Jammies this year!  I am sure no one is surprised that we are all in Patriots gear.  Colton is becoming an avid patriots fan and often times includes them in his prayers at night.
